I had remarked here and elsewhere of when some Tamiya paint I had used wrinkled the plastic on my AMT/Ertl kit. I'm wondering if this is only a problem with grey Ertl plastic? I've seen Tamiya sprays used on other things and really liked the finish, just not that crazy about going thru all the preperation that you have to do like when using a hot automotive paint for example. Anyone else had problems with Tamiya paint wrinkling or crazing the plastic straight out of the can?

I havent used it personally but I have seen it used with labor intensive sucess.
IMHO too much work. I'll stick with the Testors sucessess I have had.

I recently tried it out and it is truly awesome stuff. Not labor intensive IMO. I prime everything, no matter what paint I use so there was no addditional labor there. I'm working on a Dodge Deora right now and I sprayed it Tamiya gold with Tamiya clear and it came out beautiful! I polished it on account of I'm a perfectionist but it almost wasn't even necessary. It came out great with very little effort. I'll try and post pics when I get home tonight but I am pretty busy packing as I just bought a new house.

I've used Tamiya spray lacquers on several projects now, including plastic kit bodies and some 1:64 scale diecasts. My verdict? I love the stuff! Tamiya has the best line of modeling spray paints ever, and that includes the famed AMT spray lacquers of 30-40 years ago, and I thought nothing would ever be as good as that line of paints was. Hassles? Labor intensive? Not in my experience. Biscuitbuilder

I've got to give props to Biscuitbuilder as he was the one who convinced me to try the stuff. I agree with you on every point BiscuitBuilder! Awesome stuff and even beats the true automotive lacquers that I loved so much. If you haven't tried it people, you need to! BTW BB, how 'bout posting some pics of that awesome Airstream scratchbuild you're working on. I'm sure everyone here would enjoy it immensely as well as your tremendous ability.

hey ron h did you find the tam gold a touch thin when comparwd to the other tam.paint as far as the paint goes its great just when i used the gold it was thin but it gave the paint a ton of depth great for show but i think i would have the shinest scarab at bridgehampton build on

I havent used Tamyia, but i do only use lacquer's to paint my models, i use dupli-color, i think its great, its about 4 bucks cheaper than tamyia also. and a ton more colors. and i always seem to get really great paint jobs.
