the original style one from the 60's, in the Gulf color scheme? I've got one at home that I'm gonna start building as soon as I get done with my current project. curious to hear opinions on fit, instructions, finish, etc.

Nope,
I haven't built one, but I have read reviews on other sites, and the results were pretty good.
Can't remember any specific problems, but Fujimi sometimes need a little "finessing" to get the panels to line up just right.
Good luck, and I hope to see some project pics.
