I thought I would share one more of my models. This AMT 1962 Chevrolet Bel Air was built some years ago, I think it was 95 or 96 or something like that. It's built mainly out of box but I added some stuff from the parts box to get it as I wanted. I started with adding the missing trim at the trunk/rear panel, I made it out of Evergreen strip styrene. The paint is Testors Boyd's Chezoom Teal from a rattle can and about 3 coats of clear, then polished and waxed. The American Racing wheels are from the AMT 63 Corvette with AMT Firestone tires in front and Revell/Monogram Good Year tires at the rear. There are also drilled brake rotors from Detail Master at the front. I turned the front spindles upside down and cut a couple of turns of the rear coils to get the stance I wanted. The engine are mostly from the kit but with some added details, the valve covers are from the old tool AMT 57 Chevy. Forcefan

Thanks!! I think this was the first model I tried my LMG polishing kit on. The inspiration for this model was a 61 Buick model I saw in Car Modeler.

I am now a fan of LMG!!! That is amazing!!!! I have even tried to polish a dead flat metallic without any clear one time to see how it worked and it did, but was a lot of work. I prefer to lay a couple of clear coats for better depth in the paint job and you have a bit thicker paint to work with when polishing. Forcefan

I took a watch apart and it had springs like that. I might have to try that?

you can make it from some stripped wire, you know when u strip a wire, all the strands inside, take one of those, and wrap it around something like a long thin tube, and you have urself a spring.

you can make it from some stripped wire, you know when u strip a wire, all the strands inside, take one of those, and wrap it around something like a long thin tube, and you have urself a spring. Yup thats exactly what I did for the return spring. I wrapped the strand tightly around a 0.6 mm wire and then when it's ready and taken off the wire, stretch the spring a bit for a natural look, as you say over there "easy as pie". After the spring was done I attached it to some photo etched brackets I had lying around. When I make return springs I try to use a quite thin wire to wrap the strands around so the resulting spring wouldn't be too big and out of scale. While I'm at it I make lots more than I need so I have springs for future projects, just cut the spring to what length you need and save the rest until needed. The wires to the ignition box and the alternator are thin red, black and yellow detail wires from Modeltyme Designs/Detail Master that are twisted to a bundle. You can find lots of useful materials for detailing models at well stocked fishing tackle shops, look in the fly binding department and you'll be amazed. Forcefan
