The passing of an era. R.I.P. Old Friend. In honor of where the superspeedway stared and all the brave men that gave it their all before nomex firesuits, fuel cells, million dollars purses and even before roll cages I offer this gallery. Back when when it took way more courage to climb into a stock car racer that it does now to speak your mind and risk losing you multimillion dollar sponsorship deal there were men who raced for the love of competition and the thrill of it all. We will never see their like again and for that I feel sad. But on the other hand I feel truly blessed and enriched that I did get to see some of these giants do battle on the storied ovals of the South. I have been further blessed to later be able to meet many of them and call a special few my friends. In these days of cookie cutter tracks, cloned cars and puppet drivers I give you my tribute to the founding fathers of the best racing in the world..........HERE, THERE BE DRAGONS! www.allnascardiecast.com/southern.html
