Just got logged in and this is a really nice site. If you can't find something to talk about on the list of topics then you're just too hard to please. I build the racers from the fifties and sixties and shoot pics if them as real as I can get. I've got shops and tracks to use to make them look better than they really do. Here's a crowd at my shop to introduce myself here.

Thanks for the welcome. I had seen that dio of yours before and still can't get over it. I spent many hours of my youth in yards like that and I know beyond a doubt that you did too. That's the only way you could have done such an incredible job on that dio. That is some of the most convincing rust and dents I have ever see in plastic. The car guys get a short shrift in the IPMS contests but if the "rivet counters" saw you bring that dio in there wouldn't be anyone to sign you in because they would all run and hide in shame.

Thank you very much Sir.
I am doing a 4ft x 2ft one this winter, possibly with an office and all.
Please lets see more of yours. Feel free to post some shots and specs in the Dio forum.

I've been kicking around a model video idea featuring my models for almost fifteen years now. I started it in VHS with a friend who passed away several years ago and I let it go on the back burner. I have just aquired the equipment to do it on DVD lately and the project is back on track. It will feature my models and some of my brother's and a couple of friend's also. It should have a run time of between one and two hours. There will be a segment on handlettering including trimming your own brushes also. I've been asked to do a short segment on how me and my brother got into this race car building deal and our misadventures along the way that will probably be included also. There is also a picture CD that is all but ready now that sort of helped keep the project alive that will include more than 2000 images of our models and projects I have done in the last few years such as the on line card set, phantom box art and the magazine covers that I'll post some pics of here to show you what I'm talking about. I hope to have it done around Thanksgiving so I can sell some during the Christmas buying season. Naturally that money will be turned into kits and equipment to do other modeling projects. Is there anything better to spend excess money on, after all? LOL

Don't relate well with the model paparatzi, I'm afraid. Had a slight "encounter" with Drew from SAE and had also gotten a reply earlier when I sent some pics to him to the effect " it is pleasant to look at other modeler's pictures such as these" that came almost the same day as the one from the Appalachian Cultural Center from the Curator there. The first line of his letter contained the line, "frankly I am amazed at the picstures" and an order for two cars to be dispayed with two of Junior Johnson's real cars and driver's uniform. I tried sending some of the "doctored" pics with the people, dust and buildings to Andy at the new SA no E website and he said that he didn't know how they could use them. Does "clueless" enter into the picture anywhere? I've been treated way better by the full size car mags, having pictures published in Stock Car Racing, Circle Track and Winston Cup Scene. I'm also finishing up an article for Racing Milestones Magazine that will be in the April issue. Maybe I should offer to do one on photographing models.......No, I don't use that artificial light and rolled up poster board base that they seem to think is the only way to properly display a model. LOL

Well I know I LOVE what you are doing. SOme please keep these coming!!!
Most mags have a serious GOD complex, I know this to be true from dealing with mags tht we have been in (Real cars) and its the SAME crap eveywhere.
If there is one thing I cannot understand or deal with is GOD complexes. ALOT of boards and board owners (HH) have a SERIOUS GOD complex. Thats ONE MAJOR reason this board was born. The best revenge is success.

I have to take up for Tom on the HH board as he has a narrow line to walk. On one hand it is a message board but on the other hand it is part of his business site and he has to have certain rules about what gets posted. He's taken up for me several times when some of the ones you are probably talking about came down on me about something that didn't sit well with their "clique" and he has been very good to me.
I appreciate the way you have made me feel as welcome as an old friend in the short time I have been here and will try to be an asset to the board. I've got some pics that I'll start posting and I hope everyone enjoys them. Looking forward to a long and satisfying relationship here.
