Finally!!! Here are some pics of my '58 Impala that I promised to post a while ago. The pics are taken both here at home and at a couple of model shows. I have to fix somewhere to take decent pics and get me some good photo lights soon. Enjoy!!! Forcefan

Wow! Excellent work! The color is awesome and the paintjob looks beautiful. Now this is my kinda car. I got one of these on the shelf waiting for me!
Very nicely detailed 348 as well. Once again, nicely done!

Thanks!!
The colors are VW/Audi Lemon Yellow (Lemongelb) #L A1 D and the white are Volvo White #189, I finished with a couple of clear coats and polished it. All embems and scripts are photoetched from Model Car Garage. The four tone interior is green and the stripes on the seats are light grey, light green and black and the floor is covered with green flocking.
I started this project in the fall of 1996 after I had seen a 1:1 yellow '58 Impala with green interior at a car show in my home town, the project stalled because I didn't have good references on the interior so it wasn't finished until the summer of 2001.

Thanks!!
I think the battery clamps came with the Model Car Garage photo etched '58 Impala detail set I used for this model. But there are other sets with battery clamps and other engine room related parts available, I think Detail Master and Model Car Garage has some.

I have never in my life used PE stuff.
It's too small, too fragile and imho too aggrivating.
It looks so good though?
I have no patience for the looks of that stuff.
Your clamps look dimentional and the PE stuff is flat? How is that?

Well my battery clamps are flat. It might be the angle the photo was taken that makes them look dimesional, the only thing three dimensional are the battery terminals as they are small pieces of Evergreen round stock. Photo etched parts are challenging to work with and are quite expensive. I mostly use etched scripts and emblems when they are so faint on the model that they will disappear under the paint job, and some engine stuff to get some more detail under the hood. The only etched things under the hood on the Impala is the battery clamps, the radiator cap and the generator bracket, everything else is home made except for the ignition wires. Here is a pic of a model I built about 94-95 Every detail on this engine is home made, no aftermarket stuff what so ever, so I do make lots of stuff for detailing myself. It took a bit of resurch to do all the fuel lines in the fuel delivery system and all ignition wires and all the other things correctly and I think the engine took over a week to build and detail.
