Nice Swede! Great engine detailing. I've never built a BMW but I have been considering expanding beyond American Cars. What would be your recommendation as a good kit to start with, keeping in mind I am an advanced modeler?

This Bmw is the first tamiya kit have seen whid a engine. The Tamiya kits are easy to build and extreme quality to bad they dont do american muscle cars . I dont know what to recomend but maybe a kharman ghia ,you can make a cal looker of it ?? see pic

Hey Swede, Actually most of the Tamiya kits i have seen have engine detail. However i have noticed a few things, please correct me if i'mwrong. It seems to me that newer, cheaper releases are curbside(no engine), and most of the higher priced kits have engines. I know there are a few exceptions, but that seems to me to be the trend. It seems to me that tamiya comes out with a few "killer" detail kits, and the rest are "filler" kits that are curbside. Once again, this is my opinion, anyone else agree? In my Opion, Tamiya's worst kit, is 100% better then AMT's BEST kit!!! Besides, no engine detail just allows you to spend more time on the interior and paint!!!

I know AMT seems to be everyone's favorite whipping boy lately, and for some of their kits, deservedly so, but I still favor AMT over all others. Now before you all beat me to death with hardened tubes of 5 minute epoxy, hear me out. It seems that a lot of people are focusing on AMT's mistakes rather than the great kits they have put out over the last few years. The Phantom Vickie, '60 Starliner, 58 Chrysler 300, '62 T-Bird, '62 Poncho Catalina SD, '66 Nova tubbed, '71 Charger, '71 Duster, new tool '57 Chevy, etc. These are all great kits with little to no fit/finish problems. All all very well detailed as well. Plus, in my mind ,their selection/subject matter is second to none. I have 200 plus kits on my shelves and over 100 of them are AMT. I dunno... maybe there's something wrong with me?

you know what Ron??? You have a good point! AMT does have great subject matter, and alot of there kits are pretty good!!1
I guess we(the hobbyists in general) are a bit spoiled because of companies like Tamiya!!!!
I have always felt that some of the detail in some of the AMT kits is inaccurate, and that the plastic itself seems to be a lower quality.
Now i know Tamiya is not perferct.
I guess i'm just used to the older AMT kits, they have made some vast improvments over the years.
i still do buy AMT stuff.......
My biggest problem with them is the flashing! I guess you do really get what you pay for!!1

I´m not a big fan of tamiya , i do like theme fore the quality but AMT and monogram kits are more fun, maybe because i like american cars and dragracing cars.
