That's gonna be a cool ride I don't like to criticize models built by others and I'm definitely not a perfect builder myself (just look at the thread on my 55 Chevy Bel Air and the upside down mounted valve covers ), but isn't the distributor in the wrong place for a 426 based Hemi. On the 426 Hemi's the distributor are mounted at an angle at the front of the engine and not at the rear as they were mounted on the older 392 based Hemi's. Here is a pic for reference. Forcefan

I agree totally but this engine had zero provisions for a front mount distributor and it already had one in the back when we salvaged it?

It looks like the engine are from Revell's late 80's to current Top Fuel kits and I see the magnetos are broken off. They should be located at the white spot in front of the near cylinder head. That's not really correct either since they are mounted on the engine plate instead of on the engine block. Well it was just an observation, it's gonna be a cool ride anyhow. ;D

COOL, thanks for pointing that out.
That's how we found it in a Dick Landy box with several other parts, wether it was broken or not I had no prior knowledge.

I built a Castrol GTX Top Fuel kit some years ago and recognized the engine block. The valve covers and blower isn't the ones provided in the kit though but the zoomie headers are. The engine in the Top Fuel kits has ribbed dual sparkplug valve covers and a bigger 14-71 blower with a bird catcher injector hat on top.
These kits has one of the best nitro engines I have seen so far but I had hoped that Revell had updated the engine more in the latest Budweiser and Army kits, the only thing they did was change the injector hat. They should also have canged the fuel pumps, made a blower with blower bag and straps, bigger 44 amp MSD magnetos, different valve covers with small covers over the spark plugs wich they have to prevent the spark plugs flying around if and when they are blown out of the heads. Revell could have taken the blower and the fuel pumps from the latest Pontiac Funny Car kits since they are more correct than the ones provided in the Top Fuel kits.
If we go to the rest of the Bud and Army kits Revell should have made a 3 element rear wing instead of the 2 element wing provided, and a single wing in front of the body instead of the 2 small wings mounted just in front of the front wheels. The NHRA teams changed to the more efficient 3 element rear wing in the mid 90's and the front wing configuration was changed a couple of years ago.

I agree 100%
There going to play hell with the new offset blowers too.
I wonder if they will even re-tool for them?

Well Revell has gone the easy way before so my hopes are not so high for a major retooling of the Top Fuel and Funny Car kits, wich they need, not even for them to do a slight retool for the current offset blower set up. I also had hoped they would give us some new Weld Racing wheel styles and maybe even the new American Racing racing wheel line. I'm getting tired of the Centerline Convo Pro's in the Top Fuel kits and the strange looking cross between Weld Dragstar and Centerline Convo wheels in the Funny Car kits.
So Real concepts have some great looking Weld Racing wheels but they only have one style, but it's easy to do more styles with them since the center is a separate part and is easy to change if they had more center styles. Maybe the resincasters can come up with more styles for them.
When Revell or some other manufacturer does a race car I think they at least could provide the correct wheels for it so it's possible to build a correct replica of the car. The Budweiser Top Fueler has totally wrong wheels both rear and front and the Army car has correct front wheels but wrong wheels at the rear.
