This is "Altered State" a 1932 Fuel Altered project kit that is owned and started by Scale Auto Forums member Chris Svihla (CBone). Heres the kit inventory just so you can see how many parts are going to be united into one crazy project Kit. This kit started out life as a Revell 32' Ford 3-Window Coupe in 1/25 scale. We first assembled the engine which the long block was borrowed from the Revell dick Landy 69 Charger. Heres the engine shot as of yesterday. The 6-71 blower and hilborn injector as well as the scoop, bearing retainer plate and the blower drive was borrowed from an original 1976 MPC "57 Corvette Gasser. The Zoomie top fuel dragster headers came from a Revell Tony Schumacher dragster kit. Next we started the suspension and chassis. The front wheels were borrowed from the Revell re-issue of the Tony Nancy 22R Dragster. The rear slicks are from an original MPC "Mummy Machine" kit and the Halibrand Dragmaster wheels came from the Revell Tony Nancy 22 JR Roadster for the ultimate Nostalgia look. the chassis itself (so far) only required a minimum amount of shaving to fit the huge Chrysler Hemi and a mild reworking of the factory motor mounts. Well that's it for now. Stay tuned to this thread for regular updates on our first project kit.

The color has been a real roadblock in this project, we have partially decided on a color but I was curious to see some opinions out there as to what color would be the best for this car.
Remember were trying to go period correct.
I also want to see who comes the closest to picking the color were almost settled on.

Candy red is soooooooooo played out though.
I mean I like it and all but I think it's the MOST used candy color in history.
We are going for different.

Sorry for the length between updates on our project car but we had a little paint problem.
My friend James went down the basement last night to return some borrowed items and he "bumps" the paint booth and the sides of the roof riccochet between the box lid and it chipped the hell out of it, now for a strip and redo.
I will post some pics of the paint just so you can see the color we mixed up.

I love the car! I know that it is too late too suggest a color and that is just as well because the one you picked is perfect. You state above that you want the car and color to be "period correct". Not trying to be a wise guy or maybe I missed something, but just what period are you looking to depict and what class do you want this car to fit in? 6bbl

That car reminds me very much of some of the " Supercharged Outlaws" based in Ohio. Although their equipment (powerplants) are quite modern they still have a great nostalgic look. I can see that car as a sort of "local guy" fuel altered. One of the last of the stock frame rail cars. Are you going to have a sponsor or car name on the sides? Cool names were very popular back then.

It's going to be called "Altered State" with this artwork. Then I am going to add a few contingency decals from that era. This will be an independant match race car.

The graphics look great, kind of modern but that kind of lettering was starting to appear around that time. Before '67-'68 most lettering was very basic and block style, then came psychedelia, Peter Max, and all sorts of experimentation ( and not just with paint and lettering!) I do have an unsolicited opinion however. "Fuel Gasser" is sort of a contradiction in terms. Fuel is generally considered to be nitromethane and gassers ran, well they ran gasoline and were considered street cars. Your car doesn't really have many gasser attributes. It is definitely an altered. Gassers required "full street equipment" such as fenders, rear bumper, head and tail lights, grille, left side steering, 2 front seats, wipers, and even an exhaust system (up till '68). How about "1932 Ford Fuel Coupe"? It is a coupe and will run on 1:25 scale nitro, right? There were some AA/FA drivers that had the "Fuel Coupe" designation on their cars around '68-'72. Some funny car pilots in the mid seventies did try to get the funny car class name changed to "fuel coupe" but the funny car name was already firmly established. Not trying to be a pain in the butt, but I thought the info may be helpful. 6bbl

I know about all that.
I made a mistake I meant to say "Fuel Altered" My mind is on other things like gassers since I am building 3 gassers right now.
I have been racing in NHRA drag racing since 1986 in over 9 different classes. I currently run in the quick 8 with our big block Nova. Sorry about the mistake.

MK, No need to apologize for anything! That car is gonna be freakin' awesome! I'm sure you know how snobby some of the "rivet counters" in this hobby can be. I certainly don't want to come off like one of them. I am currently building a '29 Ford Street Roadster circa 1967, one of those mile high Model T pick-ups with a injected Race Hemi. I'm probably not going to put front fenders or a passenger seat in it so I'll know that I'll get flack from the "rivet heads" for that. I just want to build this one my way cause it makes me happy! I'm still a SFI tech inspector, so I can make it any class I want! 6bbl

That's cool. I dont mind people telling me things that may be off or non period correct. That's how a better model is made. Thats why I post alot of pics so other people may see something I missed. I also own a web design and graphics company that is geared mostly towards automotive and race subject matter and I always have several people look before it's a print. That way the best is usually what I get in the end. Heres a great example. I am in the middle of Don Garlits' site right now (Good friend of the Family) and I have made 9 different main page layouts before I settled with this one: I settled on this one after 50 or so people saw all of the other ones and kept throwing suggestions and idea around etc. BTW if you ever need graphics, logo's or a site done please let me know. I will crush anyone's prices.

Wow! Nice work. Makes my website (http://www.factorystockmusclecars.com/info.html) look "Mickey Mouse". Too bad my partner did the design work. I can't fire him! 6bbl
