I have a 1/12 scale 57 Chevy and I want some of the engine parts to be orange but the intake manifold is chrome. What are some of the best ways I can take the chrome off? please help! Thanks

I use Easy-Off oven cleaner.....low fume is ok.....put your parts you want to strip in a cheap plastic container and cover liberally with easy-off.
Cover the container and let sit an hour....scrub with a toothbrush under running water and voila!...clean parts.
This will strip the chrome and the base clear coat. I have used it for years and never had a piece or part ruined.

A less toxic way to strip chrome is to use widow cleaner, Windex is a brand name here in Canada, just about any will do the job, put in a plastic container and spray some on and wait a minite or two and there you go.Let the part dry and paint. The window cleaner can be re-used too!
