Hi everyone!!!! Like most, the most difficult part of modeling for me has been the paint jobs!!!! Dont get me wrong, they always came out ok, but that deep mirror finish eluded me!!! Until i meet (and became good friends with) Ron, aka kingrazorback!!!! He has been coaching me through AiM on how how to get that perfect paint job!!!! I started with a junk body, it's a NASCAR T-bird body. Not much detail and nice straight body lines. Keep in mind, in thses pics, there is only 3 of 6 coats of clear, and i still have to final color sand and buff.. honest opions ok? Tell me what you think!!!! i just want to take the time to say a huge THJANK YOU to Ron!!!! He is an awesome guy!!!!! I can not say enough great things about him!!!! Thanks Ron!!!!!

I think it looks great. I dont do those "Too much labor" paint jobs. I just BOMB and pray. Its 10x easier (for me) and less time consuming as well. Heres a great example of this method I just did on my 66 Chevelle. Look at the "Glass"

First of all, thanks Littlemoe! *blush* It's my pleasure! ONEBADMK8, I never argue with success so do what works. I, however, am a perfectionist and I really don't care for texture of any kind in my paint jobs. As far as "labor intensive" the way I paint isn't really that labor intensive at all. It takes a bit longer, but waiting for Testors enamel to dry takes even longer yet. It's basically the same, spraying wise. You lay down the base, then you lay down the clear. And it's MUCH easier to spray lacquer than enamel, by far. Less chance of runs, and it dries so fast, you rarely get any dirt in the paint. And if you lay it out smooth, it polishes quite easy. The results are quite worth it. A miles deep, mirror finish is really quite easily done, and most people can achieve it with a lot less effort than they think. One thing I've noticed in the Scale Auto community is that glass-like finish seems to be a "holy grail" of sorts for a LOT of people and if they knew how easy it is to achieve it, they would perform nearly flawless paint jobs on every car, as I do. Heck, I got so bored with succeeding every single time that I switched paints for something new in hopes that maybe a problem would crop up to challenge me! EDIT: By the way, most all my paint jobs are Rattle can. Why mess with the airbrush when it's easier to pop a can and go. EDIT 2: BTW ONEBADMK8.. The reflection on that car is terrific! You obviously have your method down and as I said above, I never argue with success. Excellent paint!
