Here is my Castrol GTX Top Fuel driven by the late Gary Ormsby who was the 1989 NHRA TF Champion. It's a OTB build with lots of extra details, every detail you see on this model is home made, no aftermaket stuff what so ever. Ohh... the Centerline Convo Pro rear rims are from a Revell Soff Seal 57 Chevy Pro Sportsman (todays Pro Modified). I built this model about 1994-95. Now some engine pics, it took me over a week to build and detail this beast but it sits so open and it's the first thing you see so I just couldn't leave it alone. The problem was to get good references, I didn't have internet then so I had to go to the track and take photos of TF cars to get the fuel delivery system right. Enjoy! Forcefan

Yeah...he didn't know much about TF cars (his own words) but he sure could drive them!! It's a solid insulated electrical wire that I just stripped off a bit and bent and painted. I also used small bits of the insulation to replicate the AN fittings and get a slightly larger diameter, so the end of the wire is stripped a bit and then I put back a small bit of insulation at the very end of it for the nut. The fuel hoses is painted silver with blue metallic and red metallic to get them to look as braided lines with AN fittings.

Yes it was quite a lot of plumbing. It funny how these things work. The fuel thats going in under the injector hat is mainly for sealing the blower and for cooling it, the main part of the fuel is injected right before the intake valve in the heads. I don't remember exactly but I think the ratios are 25% at the injector, 25% at the intake manifold under the blower and 50% at the intake valves, or something like that. These nitro engines consumes over 1 ½ gallons of fuel per second at full throttle and that is the same fuel consumtion as a fully loaded 747 at take off, but with 4 times the energy volume so they sure are powerful. Yes correct. When hearaing a TF car do a test fire you will first hear a quiet alchohol sound then when they kick in the enrichment valve the Richter scale hears it!! AWESOME!!

Yup I just love that SOUND!!!.....and the smell!! ;D The throttle responce is sooo impressive on these things, it would be fun to have that responce in the daily driver.
