Here are some pics of my 55 Chevy Bel Air that I built a couple of years ago. I started with an AMT 55 Chevy kit that wasn´t very good. I have scribed in some missing body lines on the front fenders, modified the chassie some and changed the engine to a 427 big block Chevy with home made headers. The paint is Pearl Red Metallic #418 from Volvo 850 and, I used the LMG polishing kit to get the shine and last but not least I waxed it. All scripts and amblems are from the 55 detail set from Model Car Garage. Enjoy Forcefan

Man that looks good. I love that color.
What lines did you have to scribe in on the front fenders?
What did you use for the dash mounted tach, that looks awesome!
I hate to be a purist but the valve covers are on upside down.

The lines I scribed in was where the fenders meets the doors at the bottom and where the fenders meets the cowl. The tach is from a Revell Funny Car dash that I cut off and modified with a stainless wire wrapped around for the mounting ring clamp and a Slixx decal face with some epoxy for glass, it's supposed to look like an Autometer tach. AAAHHHH...... I haven't noticed that the valvecovers was upside down, that was very careless of me, I might have to fix that. Forcefan

I don't understand why I had turned the valvecovers upside down on this engine.....well it's fixed now. I might have to start looking at the instructions and study engine photos more closely in the future. ;D Forcefan

Looks great Forcefan! One of my favorite cars. The PE set really brings it to life and the color is awesome. I have the Revell/Monogram 55 Bel Air kit and the PE set.. I am interested to know how that PE set worked with the AMT kit as it was made for the Monogram kit. I have the AMT kit as well and I'm wondering if I should get another PE detail set for it.

The Model Car Garage PE set worked fine with the AMT kit, I could use whatever I wanted from it. I even used the photo reduced gauge faces, after a little triming they worked just fine. You might have to modify some of the parts slightly, for example the grille wich is not the right shape for the AMT kit, I cut off the upper corners of the grille so it would fit the AMT opening. I will get more sets for my other three 55 Chevy kits.

Im still scared of PE stuff.
I guess because I never have used it. It looks too difficult and aggrivating.
